We've been talking about diversity in software engineering a lot lately, and the importance of diverse perspectives (both gender and race) in web development, machine learning, data science, and all aspects of technology and business.

In this episode, we dive into a discussion of the conscious and unconscious biases that drive start-up and industry culture, and how that negatively impacts women and people of color, often discouraging them from applying for jobs, pursuing degrees, and taking initiatives. We also talk about our own personal experiences with diversity, and potential ways that those in the cultural majority can sponsor those from underrepresented groups, in order to create a more welcoming, diverse industry.
